About Elise

Elise Kendrot is a mixed-media artist whose work strongly identifies with parts and pieces. Her narrative artworks often depict separated yet connected fragments of people, places, spaces, objects, beings, words, ideas.

Elise is interested in seeing the world with awe, curiosity, and understanding. She aims to create objects which investigate, question and embody ideas related to awe, truth, beauty and the nature of reality. Often made as quiet offerings, her artworks act as personal talismans against angst, fear, despair and anger.

Elise holds a BFA from Syracuse University and an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa. A New York State native, she has lived in a variety of places considered beautiful…and ugly. Currently she maintains her studio practice in Joliet, Illinois, where she also resides with her family.
