What does it look like, to struggle beautifully?

The Looking for Arete project is how I, as an artist and person, have decided to grapple with this very question.

The word ‘arete’ is a Greek word, usually translated to mean ‘excellence’ in English. But ‘arete’ is most accurately defined as a concept rather than as a single word. Arete can refer to ‘the striving to reach one’s potential’ or ‘the state of something at its highest quality, excellence or virtue'. Arete can be applied to an action of physical prowess as well as to beings, objects, places, ideas, and qualities of intelligence or character.
